Dr. Wafaa Eltantawy Elected IAPST Vice President

November 20, 2024 – The International Association of Psychosexual Therapists (IAPST) is proud to announce the election of Dr. Wafaa Eltantawy as its new Vice President. Dr. Eltantawy, a licensed GMC Gynaecologist with over 25 years of medical and therapeutic experience, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this esteemed leadership role.


Dr. Wafaa is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health (FFSRH) and an accredited Psychosexual Therapist and Relationship Psychotherapist. For the past decade, she has led the Psychosexual Clinic at her NHS trust in London, providing compassionate and culturally sensitive care to individuals and couples from diverse backgrounds. She has also served as a therapist with the Relate Institute for seven years.


With accreditations from the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT), the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), the British Society of Sexual Medicine (BSSM), the International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM), and the Middle East Society of Sexual Medicine (MESSM), Dr. Wafaa’s contributions to the fields of sexual and reproductive health are widely recognized on an international scale.

Dr. Wafaa’s clinical practice is distinguished by her psycho-socio-biomedical approach, which integrates medical expertise, psychotherapy, and culturally sensitive care. As a bilingual English and Arabic speaker, she offers a non-judgmental and confidential service tailored to the unique needs of her clients. Her specializations include treating vaginismus, dyspareunia, erection difficulties, loss of libido, sexual trauma, and relationship counseling with a sexual focus.


Dr. Wafaa’s medical training spans continents, having specialized in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Egypt, practiced in Saudi Arabia for 10 years, and honed her expertise in Sexual and Reproductive Health after moving to the UK 15 years ago. She is uniquely qualified to clinically examine and treat medical issues that may contribute to sexual and relationship challenges.


Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Wafaa has been a passionate advocate for professional development. Since 2008, she has trained in coaching and mentoring, empowering doctors to navigate career progression and personal challenges. As an Executive Coach, she seamlessly integrates therapeutic and coaching techniques to inspire transformative change in her clients' lives.
