Approval recognizes that a provider of continuing education meets the Association's published standards. Hours delivered by an approved provider count toward the five continuing education hours a Certified Member completes each year to renew.
Approval is not accreditation. An approved provider is not assessed against the curriculum standard for programs of education, and its offerings do not count toward earning certification.
Any individual or organization may apply, including independent practitioners, businesses, professional associations, universities, training institutes, and IAPST-accredited programs. Every application is submitted by an IAPST Certified Psychosexual Therapist, current and in good standing, who holds a substantive position with the applicant and is responsible for the application.
A provider applies against the IAPST Standards for Continuing Education. Read them before applying.
New applications open on 1 July and close on 15 August. The Commission determines them by 31 October, and approval takes effect on 1 January. Approval runs for two calendar years.
Renewals are submitted between 1 and 31 October in the second year of a term, and are determined by 1 December.
Every approved provider is assigned a provider approval number, which appears on the certificates it issues.
