Who We Are
About IAPST
The International Association of Psychosexual Therapists is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit professional organization dedicated to the advancement of psychosexual therapy and the promotion of sexual health worldwide.
Psychosexual therapy is a small field spread thinly across many countries. A clinician may be the only person in their city doing this work, and can spend years on problems that colleagues elsewhere have already solved. IAPST exists to close that distance and to be a professional home for psychosexual therapists wherever they practice.
The Association sets the standards for the field. It certifies psychosexual therapists, accredits the programs that train them, registers the supervisors who supervise them, and maintains the Code of Ethics that governs the field.
It publishes the International Journal of Psychosexual Therapy, which carries the peer-reviewed research that advances what the field knows, and holds the Annual International Symposium on Sex Therapy, where clinicians, researchers, and educators from many countries present work and shape where the field goes next. The proceedings of each Symposium are published in book form.
Membership is open to psychosexual therapists, to professionals in allied fields, and to students entering the profession.
