Mission, Vision and Values
Mission
IAPST sets the standards for psychosexual therapy, certifies the clinicians who practice it, accredits the programs that train them, and advances what the field knows.
Vision
A world in which psychosexual therapy is a recognized clinical specialty with a defined standard of entry, practiced by clinicians whose training and competence can be verified.
Values
IAPST is guided by professionalism and ethics. Members are held to published standards of competence and conduct, and the Code of Ethics governs the practice of every one of them. The Association is committed to science, supporting what the evidence supports and saying plainly where the evidence is thin. It advances research through the International Journal of Psychosexual Therapy, and education through the accreditation of the programs that train psychosexual therapists. It values collaboration, connecting clinicians who work in the same field across many countries, and inclusivity in all its forms, including diversity of thought.
